The International Academy
The International Academy of Food Science and Technology (IAFoST) is an elected group of distinguished food scientists and technologists who serve as Fellows of the Academy. In their Academy role, the Fellows represent no organisation, and shall serve as independent persons. The Academy collectively forms a pool of scientific expertise in food science and technology from which the Union may draw non-aligned expert advice on scientific matters. Fellows will usually, but not necessarily, be affiliated with adhering bodies of the Union.
The Academy nominates candidates for the Scientific Council for General Assembly approval and sends proposals for members of working groups to the Scientific Council. Its responsibilities also include providing scientific advice to the President or Scientific Council and allocating jury panels for awards. The Academy is to take its own initiatives, with appropriate coordination, to promote food science and technology, stimulate education and training, and improve international cooperation.
